04-03-2008  ::  WECU's Learning Tree is in our Holly St Lobby

Learning Tree
As a local, not for profit cooperative, WECU uses our visibility, broad membership base and resources to help various groups and people in Whatcom County . Our new project, WECU’s “Learning Tree” is doing just that!

We are beginning to understand the tremendous importance of early learning in emotional and mental development. We know that the first years of life provide the foundation of the brain’s structure and are vitally important to the future success of any child. The time caregivers spend with children during their formative years can have an incredibly positive effect on their lives. The financial strain of running a childcare center can be daunting.

The Learning Tree, currently on display in our Holly St. lobby, is covered in tags with donation requests from local childcare providers.  The dollar amounts of the donation requests vary, so one will fit your budget! There may be a neighborhood Family Child Care Center on the tree that is important to you, so please stop by sometime this month. Please contact Reid Frederick at reid.frederick@wecu.com if you have questions regarding the Learning Tree.

12-12-2007  ::  Visa Settlement

Some WECU members are receiving documents in the mail regarding a class action settlement against Visa for the conversion fees charged on their Visa cards between 1996 and 2006. This is a legitimate settlement. If you have received documents regarding this settlement and would like more information visit  http://www.ccfsettlement.com/ or call 800-945-9890.

11-19-2007  ::  WECU Partners With BornLearning

WECU is proud to have established a partnership with Born Learning.  Parents and caregivers of young children understand that the early years are important, yet many aren’t sure how to encourage early learning, or feel they don’t have time to do what it takes to help their child succeed in school. Through awareness, education, and action, Born Learning and its partners are working on the preparedness of our youth children for the future.  To learn more click on WECU Partners With BornLearning at the top of this article or ask one of our tellers for a playbook.
